You will study four core modules, covering general business areas that apply to the majority of organisations. You will gain an understanding of the perspectives and theories relating to the leadership of people and the strategic management of human resources within an organisational setting. You will also apply marketing theory and strategic management theories and concepts to the workplace, with a view to producing well-researched recommendations for your company. Finally, you will learn about the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship as a means of creating both financial and social value, and how to make innovation happen in your workplace.
The modules are delivered through interactive seminar sessions taught at the University over two days per month (Friday and Saturday) during term time, along with work-based learning and self study. Each module includes a substantial individual work-based project to link your studies of theory to your workplace.
The course attracts a diverse mix of people of all ages working at all levels in a wide variety of companies. This enables you to learn about other organisations as well as your own.

About this course
The Business Management Practice BA(Hons) is offered as a level 6 honours top-up course, completed within 12 months for students holding a qualification such as a foundation degree or HND.
It is designed to meet the needs of those who work, or have worked, in the area of business, administration, or operations management.
It is delivered using a combination of taught face-to-face sessions, self-study and work-based learning.
Part-time, open-learning delivery enables students to fit study around other commitments.
Distinctive features of the course include completion of work based assignments, which combine current management theory and its application to contemporary workplaces, enabling students to contribute effectively to developments in their own organisations.
Support is available to assist with any academic or personal difficulties.
You will have the opportunity to study a foreign language, free of charge, during your time at the University on a not-for-credit basis as part of the Kingston Language Scheme. Options currently include: Arabic, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
possess an appropriate business foundation degree (offered locally at Kingston College HE Undergraduate: FdA Business) or sub-degree qualification (eg an HND) gained within the last five years;
have relevant work experience;
be in work or have access to a work environment.
