The aim of this Apprenticeship framework is to provide employers in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors with a business and administration workforce who have the skills, knowledge and competencies to support business systems, processes and services and who can contribute to making businesses more efficient and productive.
Administrators need a broad range of skills to work efficiently and to help increase business productivity.
Skills shortages identified by organisations include a lack of office and administration skills, customer-handling skills, technical and practical skills, oral communication skills and IT skills, all of which are covered within the Business and Administration Apprenticeship framework.

Course programme

In order to achieve a full Apprenticeship you must successfully complete the different parts of the framework over 18 to 24 months. This consists of sector related industry qualifications. Competence qualification Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Business and Administration Mandatory Units Manage own Performance in a Business Environment Evaluate and Improve Own Performance in a Business Environment Work in a Business Environment Communicate in a Business Environment The Optional units are chosen by the employer to reflect your job role Knowledge qualification Level 3 BTEC Certificate in Principles of Business and Administration Mandatory Units Principles of Personal Responsibilities and How to Develop and Evaluate own Performance at Work Principles of Working with and Supervising Others in a Business Environment Principles of Managing Information and Producing Documents in a Business Environment Principles of Providing and Maintaining Administrative Services Optional Units Principles of Supporting Change in a Business Environment Principles of Maintaining Stationery Stock Building Working Relationships with Customers Principles of Working in the Public Sector Principles of Project Management Principles of Budgets in a Business Environment Principles of Contributing to Innovation and Change Principles of Working in the Public Sector Functional Skills qualifications Level 2 Functional Skill in English Level 2 Functional Skill in Maths Level 2 Functional Skill in ICT Employment Rights and Responsibilities Personal Learning and Thinking Skills Apprenticeships give you the opportunity to work for a real employer, earn a real salary and gain a real qualification whilst gaining valuable workplace skills and experience. Apprentices who are undertaking the Business & Administration Advanced Apprenticeship are likely to have some prior experience in a business or administration role, although this is not a formal requirement. They must employed in a position with responsibility or supervisory skills. A rigorous recruitment and selections process is carried out to ensure that the aspiring apprentices are suited to enduring this exciting and challenging route of study. GCSE grade A-C in English and Maths would be an advantage.
