Why should I come to Pendleton College?
BTEC Business has a dedicated suite of rooms and information technology Suites as well as a departmental Learning Resource Centre.
What will I study?
Completion of four mandatory and two optional units is required. The mandatory units are:
What will I achieve?
There are two awards. The BTEC National Award (one year course) is the equivalent of one A-Level and a BTEC National Certificate (two year course) is the equivalent of two A-Levels.
How is the course assessed?
The principle form of assessment is by assignments. Observed presentations will form part of some assignment projects.
What else will I do?
The department is committed to a policy of a range of enrichment activities including: business and industrial visits, computer, video and other business simulations, guest speakers, education/business initiatives - particularly related to problem-solving activities which are integrated into all business courses. The Business department is actively involved in work related learning and will afford students a wide range of opportunities to employ their knowledge and skills in a practical manner within a commercial retail unit and through a primary industry project.
