This qualification is intended for experienced personnel working in the electrical industry. The qualification forms part of the Continuous Professional Development available to the electrical sector, allowing those working in the industry to develop their skills and keep up to date with requirements.

The Level 3 Certificate in inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations has been developed in association with the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC) and will satisfy the NICEIC's particular requirement that Proposed Qualified Supervisors (PQSs) and operatives are conversant with the requirements of BS 7671 for inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations.

The 2391 qualification is accepted by some register-holding bodies as suitable criterion for competent persons schemes registration, for example Part P, NICEIC approved contractors.

You must be a qualified electrician with practical experience of inspecting, testing and verifying electrical installations.

Candidates must have previously achieved a qualification which addresses BS7671 such as the C&G 2382 or similar qualification in which they have demonstrated an understanding of the 17th Edition.

This is a 30 hour course, typically delivered over 4 days or 10 evening sessions. In addition to the delivered hours candidates will undertake one written exam and one practical assessment. The exam for this course will be held at Furness College, Barrow-in-Furness at 6pm on Thursday 2nd December 2010.

Unit 301 of the qualification covers candidates’ technical knowledge of the inspection and testing of electrical installations including the preparation for inspection & testing, and the technical aspects involved in the inspection and test. Unit 302 covers the candidates’ practical application of the inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations.
