Course programme
Overview of the course:
All students are required to attend college for 3 days per week, from 9: 00am until 4. 15pm. During their time in college, they will undertake 9 hours of practical vocational learning (depending upon their chosen route, i.e. animals, land and plants or foundation studies) , 3 hours of maths and English, 1 hour each of Personal and Social Development, Tutorial and Personal Centred Planning and 2 hours of work experience. All of these elements add up to their study programme in their chosen area. All practical sessions are delivered within a 'real life' working environment delivered by teaching staff who are experts in their vocational areas.
Topics:
Make a familiar journey; Recognise hazards in familiar settings; Improve personal manner & conduct; Dealing with problems in daily life; Working as part of a group and Healthy Living.
Vocational modules depending upon chosen pathway, i.e. animals, land and plants or foundation studies incorporating horticulture, ceramics and catering.
Additional information
Progress within entry level programmes, supported employment, employment, voluntary sector, supported internship or access to a mainstream course within a specific vocational area.
