Introductory Welding Course

The course involves intensive practical training for MIG/MAG, TIG OR MMA welding and serves as an introduction or to support a hobby or as the first step in a welding career. The training takes place over three days with course start dates every Monday of each week.

You will need to bring PPE i.e. steel toe cap boots and flame-retardant overalls.

About this course

Learning Outcome One – produce beads on plate in the PA flat position using MIG/MAG, MMA or TIG

Learning Outcome Two – produce a lap fillet weld in the PB horizontal/vertical position using MIG/MAG, MMA or TIG

Learning Outcome Three – produce a tee fillet weld in the PA flat position using MIG/MAG, MMA or TIG

Learning Outcome Four – produce a tee fillet weld in the PB horizontal/vertical position using MIG/MAG, MMA or TIG

Learning Outcome Five – produce a corner weld in the PA flat position using MIG/MAG, MMA or TIG

The introductory course will teach you the foundation skills needed to start employment in the welding and fabrication sector. Equally, it is an excellent programme to develop the skills to support a hobby or side project that you may have.

There are no formal entry requirements for this level of study. The course is for total beginners.

You can progress to another welding process at Level 1 process (MMA, TIG or MIG) or the Level 2 welding course.

This is an intensive welding programme which begins and ends with practical training in the welding bay to ensure that you have enough experience to work effectively.
