Course programme
Overview of the course:
It is a full time one year study programme designed for learners who prefer practical learning and have a clear idea that employment is their short-term aim. Learners will develop the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the animal care sector. This may include traineeships or apprenticeship options. Sessions will be mainly practical, with theory sessions to reflect on practical experience. Maths and English will need to be studied alongside the programme.
Topics:
Health and Safety, small mammal care, exotic care, working with dogs, aquatics, farm livestock.
Additional information
Learners will aim to progress into employment, either directly or via traineeships or apprenticeships. Some learners may progress on to a level 2 technical diploma in Animal Care subject to achieving minimum entry requirements.
