Overview of the course:
You will cover a mixture of theory and practical topics and get hands-on experience working on the Houghall estate and plant centre. Throughout the extensive grounds you will be able to work on all aspects of horticulture from turf maintenance to plant propagation ensuring you gain essential employability skills.
Topics:
Topics covered in the course include: work experience and safe working practices, principles of plant science, principles of soil science, setting out and establishing and maintaining plants.
Additional information
Progression options following successful completion of this course may enable you to progress onto the level 3 diploma in horticulture, Level 2 Diploma in forestry and arboriculture, Level 2 Work Based Diploma in Environmental Conservation or an apprenticeship in horticulture.
