The Level 2 Certificate in Children and Young Peoples Workforce – Apprenticeship is for people who want to work in a range of early years settings and services with children from birth to 7 years (and their families). This qualification gives students the understanding and practical skills to be able to meet the individual needs of the child in a supporting role.

Students need to be working in an appropriate early years setting for a minimum of 30 hours a week. The College will support students in finding an employer if required, so students will have employed status and will be learning and earning. Apprentices earn the national minimum wage, but many employers pay more than the minimum amount.

Students are strongly advised to start the level 2 apprenticeship first before progressing onto the level 3 so that they have an opportunity to learn the job role, and the expectations of the course in a gentler manner. Also some areas of the level 2 CYPW, including 3 units, can be used directly as evidence for the level 3, meaning more time can be spent on other areas.
