Summary: This course will train you to work in a face to face role with children, between birth and 5 years, with knowledge of children up to 7 years








Course description: You will cover topics such as:

Contributing to positive relationships

Help to keep children safe

Support children’s development

Use support to develop own practice in children’s care, learning and development

Prepare and maintain environments to meet children’s needs

Support children’s play and learning.
The course includes 282 guided learning hours, and 250 hours to be completed at placement, where skills will be evaluated.









Entry requirements: Applicants should have three GCSEs at grade A* - D including English. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate, at interview, an ability and aptitude for working with children aged 0 to 7 years in any setting.









Objective: This nationally recognised course can lead directly to a career working in a supervised role in settings or services whose main purpose is children’s care, learning and development.









Assessment: Assessment is carried out via written assignments, presentations etc. and assessment in work placement.









Academic progression: This course, at pass level, provides the underpinning knowledge students will need to progress to the CACHE Certificate in Childcare & Education, which is a Level 3 course. Students could also progress on to an apprenticeship with an employer.









Career progression: Students could progress into a job such as a nursery assistant, a classroom assistant, or a pre-school assistant.
