Course programme

This programme is for people who would like to teach English to adults in the UK in private language schools and abroad. This programme is aimed at students with no previous experience of teaching whatsoever, or those who have teaching experience but not in EFL or ESOL.
CELTA is awarded to candidates who have completed the programme and who have met the assessment criteria for all written and practical assignments.
A variety of teaching approaches are used: lectures, seminars, workshops, discussion, pair/group work, video and computer sessions. Each trainee is assessed on 6 hours of practical teaching. 6 hours of classroom observation of experienced ESOL and EFL teachers is also included. At least 50 hours of self-study is expected for reading, assignments and planning.
There is continuous assessment on the trainee’s teaching skills (at two different levels) and ability to plan lessons. There are also four written assignments focusing on language awareness, the individual student, skills development and your experience in the classroom.
