About this course

The role and contribution of healthcare professionals is adapting to the changing healthcare needs associated with the current increase in life expectancy and accompanying increase in chronic disease. The purpose of this programme is to allow you the opportunity to explore these changes, and to develop skills in clinical practice, research and leadership which will enable you to understand and contribute to the changing nature of the modern healthcare service. The course is aimed at nurses working in primary, secondary or tertiary care or working in education or research roles. It is taught through lectures, tutorials, seminars, practical work and supported distance learning, enabling students to manage their academic study alongside other commitments.

All applicants must apply online. You can usually apply for up to two courses, although your second choice will only be considered if your first-choice application is unsuccessful. Structure and assessment

Modules will be assessed by a combination of written work and also in the written paper examinations at the end of each year.

The dissertation and viva are undertaken in the second year.
