Course programme
This module will enable you to develop in-depth knowledge and skills when caring for the critically unwell woman, during the child bearing continuum.
The module uses a variety of student-centred teaching and learning strategies:
- A Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to support theoretical grounding
- Simulated clinical practice in the skills lab, promoting practice learning opportunities
Work-based learning, which recognises and values your professional expertise, is incorporated into the module; while practicing midwifery in an area where women with high dependency needs will be cared for, you will also spend clinical time developing your skills in the high dependency or intensive care unit, using a practice document to support your learning.
You will be supported in practice by an experienced clinical mentor and all students are allocated a personal tutor.
