Course programme
This course is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills you need to supervise and care for young children. You'll study a number of core and optional units, which include: sharing learning experiences with children, human growth and development, healthy living, supporting babies and self-development.
You'll also study Maths and English if you have achieved a grade C in these subjects at GCSE.
- You must have four GCSEs at grade E or above, or an entry level vocational qualification (that included Functional Skills in English).
- You must be able to evidence at least two weeks work experience with children under eight.
- You'll need an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check which costs approximately £50 but it is free if you will be under 19 years old.
- All candidates will attend an interview prior to enrolment. This is your opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to the subject.
Assessment is by coursework.
This Level 1 course is intended to be introductory. For a more practical and career-focused course, you could progress to a Level 2 qualification in Childcare and Education.
