What you need to know
How will I study?
The course is run over two and a half days each week and is designed in individual units of competence in specific areas of carpentry and joinery. The course covers the standards as set by the awarding body and training will ensure you have the skills to the level required by industry. We look for real projects for students to work so you can develop your practical skills in practical situations where possible. If you are a full time student aged 16-18 you will follow a study programme which will consist of your main Carpentry & Joinery course, enterprise and enrichment activities, English and maths and work experience. Through your tutorial programme you will also develop personal and work related skills which will help prepare you for full time work after you have finished your full time training in college.
How will I be taught?
The course is broken down into 75% practical training and 25% theory training.
How will I be assessed?
Assessments for theory will be test based with multiple choice on line testing. There are 7 practical timed tests done at the throughout the year.
