Cartoonist course

The cartoonist is aartistic designer specializing in the creation of comics. From the story prepared by the screenwriter (or the cartoonist himself), he describes the cartoons in detail, choosing the type of shot, the size and every detail that is fundamental to the narration. In carrying out his work he must be able to always keep the physiognomy and personality of a character unchanged, as well as in the organization of the pages within which to draw the cartoons and their respective contents. The cartoonist completes the work with inking and possibly coloring. Eventually it is possible to add shadows and / or other details. To carry out his work he uses the following tools: paper, format and tool to brush the contours with a brush at the end of the drawing. The cartoonist can work as an employee for a publishing house, an agency, a magazine editor or a website. However, he can also operate as a freelance, looking for work for himself and negotiating from time to time with the client (individuals or companies) his activities and his remuneration. Whoever takes up this profession must have a good general knowledge. It is necessary to read magazines, newspapers, books, go to the theater, the cinema, attend artistic events. Always keep up to date with what's going on. Furthermore, in order to become a cartoonist specialized in the creation of comics, you need first of all a basic talent and a good school; a useful technique is also to learn by training on your own, that is, by copying your favorite comic models, and then try to draw them yourself. A professional in comics must be able to always keep the physiognomy and personality of a character unchanged, as they must maintain their characteristics so that they can always be recognizable over time.
