The graduate certificate in Accounting Fundamentals is designed primarily for individuals who want to strengthen their understanding of accounting or individuals seeking to fulfill some of the accounting requirements to sit for the CPA examination, but not wishing to earn a graduate business degree. Course programme

Certificate Requirements

To receive a Certificate in Accounting Fundamentals, you must complete 12 credits of coursework and maintain a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.0 for courses taken in the certificate program. The coursework must be completed after you have received a bachelor's degree or equivalent.

The certificate requires ACCT 505: Introduction to Accounting (or its equivalent) as a prerequisite for each course in the certificate program and the completion of the following courses:

Required courses (12 credits):

  • ACCT 510 - Intermediate Accounting I (prerequisite: ACCT 505 or equivalent) (3.0 cr)
  • ACCT 511 - Intermediate Accounting II (prerequisite: ACCT 510) (3.0 cr)
  • ACCT 512 - Auditing /Accounting Information Systems (prerequisite: ACCT 511) (3.0 cr)
  • ACCT 513 - Intermediate Accounting III / Advanced Accounting (prerequisite: ACCT 511) (3.0 cr)

Your application will be accepted on a rolling basis but you can use these dates as a guide.
