This is a specialist vocationally related qualification to provide make-up for a variety of occasions including day, evening and special occasions. You will be able to work with a variety of skin types and apply a wide range of make-up products to different skin tones and age groups. You will also provide make-up instruction and give advice to clients.
You will be able to provide eyebrow shaping and eyelash and eyebrow tinting for clients with different colouring characteristics.
Throughout the year you will develop your practical skills and work in a commercial salon environment. Within the qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety, client care and communication and related knowledge of nail treatments. Also studied:

Apply and instruct on make-up application
Eyelash and brow treatments
Bones and muscles of the cranium

About this course
It is possible to progress in this skilled area to advanced make-up techniques including airbrushing. Follow on courses include Level 3 Certificate in Fashion and Photographic Make-up or Level 3 Diploma in Fashion, Theatre, Media and Hair Studies at Gower College Swansea.
Suitable for students with a good general education e.g. a Level 1 qualification or GCSE equivalent or a Level 1 ESOL qualification
A positive attitude and enthusiasm is essential. You must have good communication skills and be well presented.

Course programme
Delivered over one evening per week (6-9pm) and over 34 weeks.
Students will be expected to undertake home study, including written and practical coursework, making this an ideal route for those who wish to study flexibly around other commitments.
Procedures and techniques are demonstrated by the tutor and learners will then perform the procedure on their model. Learners will be assessed on their practical techniques and by written assessments.
