Certificate in Counselling

This popular, multimedia course will give you a firm foundation in counselling skills. If your job involves helping others, or if you simply want to be supportive to others, then you'll learn techniques that will help you be more effective in that role.

Your course provides a comprehensive overview of counselling. It is designed to provide a practical understanding of counselling knowledge, skills and practice used by professional counsellors.

Using Gerard Egan's three-stage model, outlined in his book ‘The Skilled Helper', the syllabus takes a problem management and opportunity development approach to helping.

The course material is supplemented by short practical exercises and case study assignments marked by your personal tutor.

On completion you will be able to observe and become conversant with many of the practical techniques employed by professional counsellors.

Your Tuition

One of the key aspects to successfully completing your course is the quality of your tuition. All STT tutors are experienced in teaching by distance learning and have been specially trained by us to help you.

Your tutor for this course will be qualified to at least degree level or equivalent with postgraduate training in counselling. Their primary aim is to encourage you to develop your own personal style when using counselling skills with clients.

There are five assignments to complete and you have to pass each one to qualify for your Certificate in Counselling. But don't worry about this. If necessary you can re-take an assignment free of charge.

We have brought together a professional tuition service and an up-to-date, authoritative course so that you can work towards a Certificate in Counselling. Not only will you gain a recognised qualification, but you'll also gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of the methods used to help people in their time of need.
