Certificate in Internal Audit Services

Certificate Requirements

To receive a Certificate in Internal Audit Services, you must complete 12 credits of coursework and maintain a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.0 for courses taken in the certificate program. The coursework must be completed after you have received a bachelor's degree or equivalent.

The certificate requires ACCT 505: Introduction to Accounting (or its equivalent) as a prerequisite for each course in the certificate program and the completion of the following courses:

Required courses (9 credits):

• ACCT 512 - Auditing Accounting System (prerequisite: ACCT 511) (3 cr)

If this course is taken as part of a prior undergraduate degree (e.g., ACCT 401), students will substitute an additional graduate elective listed below.

Choose either:

• ACCT 605 - Performance Management and Accounting Controls (prerequisite: ACCT 505) (3 cr)
• ACCT 720 - Design of Managerial Cost and Control Systems (prerequisite: ACCT 306 or ACCT 605) (3 cr)

• ACCT 740 - Advance Topics in Assurance Services (prerequisite: ACCT 512) (3 cr)

Electives from IT or Operations Management:

Choose one or two 3-credit course(s) from the the following:

• ACCT 752 - Advanced Topics in Accounting Systems (3 cr)
• INSS 651 - Database Management Systems (3 cr)
• INSS 671 - Systems Analysis and Design (3 cr)
• INSS 753 - Internet and Network Security (3 cr)
• OPM 615 - Innovation and Project Management (3 cr)
• OPM 625 - Operations and Supply Chain (3 cr)
• or another related course from ACCT, OPM or INSS by approval of the program director.
