Who is this course for?
Learners who have achieved a Level 1 Diploma in Motor vehicle maintenance. Also, anyone who has prior knowledge and experience of working in the Motor vehicle repair and maintenance industry whose qualification are no longer valid or have no relative qualifications. This course is ideal for progressing Level 1 learners, those that are long term unemployed and returning to education and who have relevant industrial experience. You will need to have an initial assessment and diagnostic assessments to identify what level of study you are currently working at for English and Maths as well as a mechanical reasoning assessment to identify your ability to think in a structured and methodical way to be able to recognise simple engineering applications and principles. For the course you will need a pair of overalls and safety shoes (steel toe cap).

All of the tutors have years of industry experience behind them and as such can teach you exactly what is required to succeed in the industry. As such, they have close links to big names in the local, regional and national Vehicle Technology industry so can advise you as to what opportunities are currently out there in the world of work. Guest speakers from across the industry will give you a broder understanding of the marketplace too. In addition to the Automotive content of this programme part of the course will include functional skills or GCSE in the following subjects, English, Maths. It is essential that the learner works towards success of functional skills as this is an element of a national apprenticeship framework and therefore prepares the learner for employment opportunities in all vocational disciplines.
