About this course

Students aged 16-18 need to directly apply to a Training Agent, who will arrange an apprenticeship with an employer and placement on the appropriate college course. For students aged 19+ it is recommended that you have 3 GCSE`s grades `C` or above. These should include; Maths, English and a Science.

Introduction:
This Advanced level course will give you an understanding of the skills needed within the plumbing trade.

Study Mode & Location:
Students will attend college one day a week to study for the Certificate in Plumbing Studies - Level 3.

Course Content:
On this course you will study:

Technology
  • Systems Planning
  • Complex Cold Water Supply
  • Complex Domestic Hot Water Supply
  • Complex Sanitation Systems
  • Complex Central Heating Systems
  • Gas Safety (To include; Legislation, Combustion, Ventilation, Pipe work and fittings, Testing, Appliances).


Practical
  • Installing, testing and fault diagnostics involving; Central Heating Systems, Boosted Showers, Macerator type W.C`s, Gas appliances


NOTE: Protective footwear and overalls MUST be provided by the student and worn at all times in the practical workshops.

Assessment:
Assessment for this course will consist of 10 examinations (80% pass mark) and 26 timed practical assessments of competence.

Part-Time+ Route
You will need to complete a Further Education Application Form. These will be available from mid-May.
Many courses have limited places so please return your application form as soon as possible. Following acceptance of your application, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.

You will need to have an informal interview with a Adult Admissions Adviser.

Depending upon your circumstances, you may be able to study for FREE or at a reduced price.

Part-Time+ Course Benefits
