CTLLS Certificate to Teach in the Lifelong learning Sector

Course Overview
This is a one year part time programme. Successful achievement will result in you being awarded the Certificate to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (Post Compulsory)

The course synthesises theory with teaching practice and satisfactory achievement of all 3 modules is required.

We welcome applications from both graduates and those who have vocational qualifications.

What will I study?
The programme is delivered through a variety of methods, which encourage those on the course to link theory and practice. Learners are encouraged to become reflective practitioners and you will be required to keep a journal which records your own development.

You will explore educational theories, learn how to plan, deliver, assess and evaluate and consider teaching & learning for a range of groups and individuals.

Teaching practice is integral to the programme and through this you demonstrate how your own understanding of the principles of teaching and learning is developing.

The exciting and diverse Lifelong Learning Sector is explored from many angles and you are encouraged to undertake independent research and study to inform your work

Modules can include
This a 3 module University award and each module carries 20 credits.

  • Preparing to teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
  • Teaching and Reflecting on own practice
  • Aligning teaching and Learning

Please note all modules run parallel to teaching practice and a minimum of 30 hours of teaching practice (paid or unpaid) is required in addition to the taught modules.

Course Requirements
A degree OR a recognised level 3 qualification in your vocational area.

A level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (or completion of an initial diagnostic test)

A keen interest in teaching and Learning.

Confirmation of the required number of hours of teaching practice.

Progression

Successful achievement of the Certificate will confirm your suitability to work in some parts of the post compulsory sector.
