Challenging Behaviour (Advanced) is an advanced course introduced to support nursing and care staff working with older people who exhibit challenging behaviour. This course promotes a greater understanding of older people, their experiences and conduct, promoting management of challenging behaviour and situations in a dignified way.
Learning outcomes and objectives
- To increase staff confidence in the management of challenging behaviour in accordance with current legislation.
- To provide staff with the skills to defuse challenging situations with the aim of negating the need for physical intervention.
- To provide staff with an understanding of some of the causes of challenging behaviour to help view service users in a more positive way.
Full day courses usually run from 9.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
