There is possibly no better time to be a scientist or engineer involved with pharmaceutical manufacture. Modern medicine production relies on the work of chemical engineers and scientists, they help to discover and develop new drugs and treatments, manage resources, protect the environment and control health and safety procedures. This chemical engineering course provides for a deep understanding of chemical processes and also the products resulting from chemical reactions. The collaboration between chemical engineering and the pharmacy department is incredibly well timed as UK manufacturers are announcing an unprecedented number of new drug that they wish to take to market.

On the course, you will learn how base formulations have active ingredients added in a safe and cost effective way. These formulations will then require bulk manufacture to supply global demands Chemical engineers understand how to alter the chemical, biochemical feedstocks to create a range of products diverse and effective biologically active products.

The course covers chemistry, the engineering and the action of existing and novel drugs.
