This course is similar in structure to our MSc Chemistry, but has a larger proportion of research experience, and fewer lectures. This weighting of components should appeal to students who are planning to use their studies as a stepping-stone to PhD study,or chemical research in industry.

About this course

You'll carry out an extended research project across the full 12 months of the academic year and work alongside professional scientists. You will have the opportunity to get really involved in your research area and enough time to produce some academically significant results.

You need a BSc (Hons) 2:1 or equivalent in chemistry or a chemistry-related subject.

Assessment

Assessment of the research project is through a literature review of your research area, a 20,000-word dissertation, poster presentation, oral presentation and viva, as well as assessed performance during the project.
