Our apprenticeships open up rewarding job opportunities in crèches, nurseries, pre-schools, early years settings and morning and after-school clubs. There are also careers in youth and community settings or specialising in work with children and young people with special needs.

You will need to:

About this course

You can make a positive difference to children’s lives, acting as a role model to help them develop their creativity, physical and social skills.

You will need to be 16 and over and in full-time employment. You will already be working in a suitable role, or we can help you find one. If you are new to the industry or have limited experience you will need to start at Level 2.

For Level 2 you will normally require a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3 (grade D) or above. If you do not have a grade 4 (grade C) or above in English and maths you will need to undertake an assessment so we can ensure you receive the best support for that subject.

NVQ Level 2 Certificate Children and Young People's Workforce

The Level 2 Apprenticeship will enable you to work with children in a supervised role. You learn whilst working, which prepares you to work with different professionals and volunteers and helps you understand the importance of providing a service for children and their families.

During your Level 2 Apprenticeship you will gain:
  • Level 2 Certificate Children and Young People's Workforce
  • Paediatric First Aid
  • Functional Skills Level 1 in English, maths and ICT
NVQ Level 3 Diploma Early Years Educator

The Level 3 Apprenticeship develops your skills and knowledge of early years learning and childcare. You will gain an enhanced understanding of the practices and theories of childcare and education, including supporting and keeping children safe and developing them through play and learning activities.

During your Level 3 Apprenticeship you will gain:
  • Level 3 Diploma Early Learning and Childcare.
  • Paediatric First Aid.
  • Functional Skills Level 2 in ICT
