Childcare Apprenticeship - Level 3

There are no formal entry requirements, you will need to demonstrate a good level of literacy, numeracy and ICT along with effective communication skills and be able to provide suitable references.

As well as practical experience through your work setting, you will study units to help you to develop the knowledge to work in supporting the development and care of children and young people. Units include communication, equality and inclusion, safeguarding and duty of care. You will study Functional Skills and a Level 2 Award in Employment Responsibilities and Rights in Health, Social Care or Children and Young People’s Settings.

You will be working at your place of employment and you will be required to attend College for day release or for short workshops.

Assessment will take a number of formats such as direct observation, log or reflective diary, oral questions, portfolio of evidence and expert witness evidence. Some assessment will be carried out in your workplace by a trained Assessor.

On successful completion of the Apprenticeship you can progress to Higher Education eg a Foundation Degree in Early Years or into a variety of job roles in settings such as playgroups and nursery schools.
