We scrutinise the differing political and ethical claims on childhood and youth that inform contemporary policy and practice.
You’ll be exposed to new and original ways of thinking about children and young people. You’ll be able to:
communicate effectively with child- and youth-focused professionals
carry out empirical research with children and young people
transfer your analytical, writing and other skills to the workplace.

About this course
You should normally have an upper second-class (2.1) undergraduate honours degree or above, or be able to demonstrate the ability to study at the appropriate level.
97% of students from the Department of Social Work and Social Care were in work or further study six months after graduating. Recent School of Education and Social Work graduates have gone on to jobs including:
safeguarding manager, East Sussex County Council
specialist speech and language therapist, Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust
deputy manager, Cedar Tree Preschool.
