Why choose this course?   Childhood Studies is an area of academic study which encompasses the fields of education, psychology and sociology.   A foundation degree is aimed at practitioners who are in employment but wish to study for a degree whilst working. It aims to bring together the practical knowledge and skills of experienced practitioners with up to date academic study in the field.   FdA Childhood Studies offers three different routes so the choice of foundation degree is yours. The area you choose to focus could be based on current job role, current interests or a job role you aspire to.  The three routes are as follows:   FdA Childhood Studies: Families and Young Children   This course relates to working with families and children under the age of five. It is most suitable for those working in a variety of roles where an understanding of babies, young children and families is key.   FdA Childhood Studies: Education   This course relates to working with children in an educational context. There are two pathways within this route covering the early years (0-5 years) and Key Stage 1&2 (6-11 years).   FdA Childhood Studies: Special Educational Needs   This course relates to working with children of all ages where the main context is SEN. It is most suitable to practitioners working in an educational support role.   The foundation degree is offered to you as a fully supported e-learning programme. You will access the course through Moodle, the University’s Virtual Learning Environment. This is an easy to use self-contained website which enables you to access the course materials, your tutors and the other students on the course.   Why not come along to our next subject day and find out more information about the course.
