Early years professionals need to be able to demonstrate a range of technical, professional, vocational, employability, transferable and key skills (0-18 years) to meet the changing requirements of the childcare and education workforce in light of the developments within DfE (2013) More Great Childcare.
We aim to produce capable and well-rounded graduates who will contribute to the childcare and education skill base of the local economy and region, either working in a childcare setting or continuing their studies in teacher training.
The course has been written with employability at the heart of its design.

Course programme

Modules may include: Purposeful Play in Childhood Contemporary Discourse The Family in Context Research Methods Dissertation The course will enable you to develop your professional knowledge and skills and apply it to current practice. Part time students would be required to attend college one afternoon and evening per week for 3 semesters (18 months). Full time students would attend two days a week for one year (2 semesters). This course runs at our Technology Campus. You will study four modules plus a dissertation module, for each module you have a taught session each week. All students are expected to attend a suitable work placement (paid or voluntary) for at least 10-12 hours a week on an on-going basis throughout their studies. As work-based learning is integral to the course you will need to have a DBS check.
