What's it all about?:
If you are working where you will need to move or handle children, you need to learn how to perform those techniques without causing a hazard to either the children or yourself. Our course is designed to give you the theoretical and practical skills of safer moving and handling so you can look carefully at your activities and ensure that you keep the children in your care, and yourself safe.

Progression:
The certificate provides an opportunity to gain increased knowledge and skills in safer moving and handling techniques to enhance work practice.

Entry Requirements:
There are no specific entry requirements for this course.

Duration: Half day

This course will give staff working within a childcare setting the skills and knowledge to perform low-risk moving and handling techniques when required.

What does the course involve?:

Topics will include legislation relating to moving and handling, the spine and its vulnerability to injury, ergonomic approach, risk assessment, principles of safe moving and handling, and low-risk moving and handling techniques.

When can I study?:
Various, 9.00am - 1.00pm or 12.00 noon - 4.00pm (Run on demand)

Are there any exams?:
Continuous assessment of practical skills and a multiple-choice question paper.
