Elaine McDermott
Senior Tutor

Elaine is a jewellery artist and designer, having worked with both PMC and Art Clay for the past 10 years. "I still have the same passion for the material as I did on the day that I opened my first packet and hopefully this is reflected in the classes that I teach. Having previously worked with ceramic clay it was a wonderful progression/addition to my work. I love to combine silver clay with ceramic, glass and enamel and love to experiment with various combinations of materials. I am a Senior Metal Clay Tutor and hold a City & Guilds 7407 in Teaching in Further Education and am currently working on Metal Clay Masters Registery I

History

The Chununga Tree was started in 2000, when silver clay first came over to the UK. Elaine McDermott, was then working with ceramic. Elaine became very interested in silver clay to work with her ceramic clay and eventually she found herself indulging herself 100% in this wonderful medium. She went on to train as a Senior Tutor in Metal Clay and already held her City & Guild Teaching Certificate. Further improving her skills in silvermithing, glass and enamelling. She is currently studying toward her Magister Registery in metal clay.

Elaine now runs a successful supplies site in jewellery supplies as well as working in her studio in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire where she also teaches jewellery making classes.
