History

The Chununga Tree was started in 2000, when silver clay first came over to the UK. Elaine McDermott, was then working with ceramic. Elaine became very interested in silver clay to work with her ceramic clay and eventually she found herself indulging herself 100% in this wonderful medium. She went on to train as a Senior Tutor in Metal Clay and already held her City & Guild Teaching Certificate. Further improving her skills in silvermithing, glass and enamelling. She is currently studying toward her Magister Registery in metal clay.

Elaine now runs a successful supplies site in jewellery supplies as well as working in her studio in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire where she also teaches jewellery making classes.

Our classes are informal and fun and are taught with an expert knowledge of jewellery making and design.

Chununga Designs Studio is an independent jewellery training provider offering high quality jewellery classes for all abilities, from beginner through to experienced jewellers. All classes are run by qualified tutors and include metal clay, beading, glass, enamelling, resin, bronze clay, copper clay, silversmithing and many more. Classes are run throughout the year, both at weekends and weekdays.. One to one private tuition is available and we also run open studio days to jewellers and metal clay artists needing to use our tools and resources
