All law units are assessed by a 1½ hour examination.



Conveyancing practice is assessed by a 1½ hour examination based on a case study which is released to students approximately 6 weeks ahead of the examination.



The Professional Studies units (Legal Research Skills and Client Care Skills) are assessed by assignment.



The Introduction to Law and Practice Unit is assessed by a 1 hour multi-choice test. What can I do next On successful completion of the Level 3 Certificate you can then progress to the Level 3 Diploma. Course Modules Client Care Skills:

Introduces legal research and the consideration of a variety of sources in order to put together legal advice.

Considers the process involved in buying and selling residential properties.

Considers the procedures and processes required for making a civil claim.

Considers the law in relation to family disputes such as divorce and children issues.

Criminal Law:

Introduces the fundamental principles of criminal law and explores specific criminal offences.

Land Law:

Considers the rights and interests in relation to land and how disputes in relation to these can be resolved.

Contract Law:

Introduces the elements and formalities required for the creation of contracts and the ways in which parties will be bound.

Tort Law:

Introduces various civil offences, particularly negligence.

Introduction to Law and Practice:

Course overview The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives' Level 3 Professional Certificate in Law and Practice is a one year part-time course intended primarily for those who are employed by a full-time solicitor in private practice or in a legal department of a local authority.  It can also be taken by anyone with a general interest in the law. Our Level 3 Certificate provides a broad introduction to law and legal practice and once you have gained the certificate, you can progress to the Level 3 Diploma. Once you have successfully completed the Level 3 Diploma, you can progress to the Level 6 course. The Level 6 qualification can lead to Fellowship of the Institute of Legal Executives, or enable a student to train to become a solicitor. Students who successfully complete year one of Level 3 but do not wish to progress to year two will gain a Certificate in Law and Practice (Conveyancing). We have start dates in Jan 2017 and September 2017 Entry requirements CILEx recommends that students have a minimum of four GCSEs at Grade C or above in academic subjects, including English language or equivalent qualifications, such as the C&G/CILEx Level 2 Certificate in Vocational Paralegal Studies.
