ENTRY REQUIREMENTS - This course is designed for complete beginners, no experience required.
COURSE CONTENT -
Basic health and safety training.
What tools are required, different types, safe use of wet and dry cutters.
Tool maintenance and care.
Using a wet cutter to mitre tiles / hole cutting.
Wall and floor surface understanding, their preparation including movement joints.
Where to start, measuring and setting out of tiles and designs, taking into account central and lowest point features.
The correct way to serrate adhesive onto walls and floors.
The correct way to fix different types and sizes of tiles to walls and floors.
How to mix grout to the correct consistency bearing in mind room temperatures and its application.
The different methods required to cut tiles around different objects, sinks, toilets, switches Maintenance and repair work to walls and floors.
Wall and floor preparation for the tanking system, where and when to use it.
Method statements, risk assessments.
Exercises on quoting and costing.
Additional information about grouting, tiling onto existing tiles, tiling onto plaster, render, wood and concrete.
The correct way to tile around windows, window reveals and shelves.
Where and how to use tile beading and the correct way to mitre inside and outside windows, splash backs etc.
Understanding the method to be able to tile onto uneven walls and floors.
Tuition on different tile textures and the appropriate use and handling of these tiles.

TRAINING METHOD - This course is mainly practical work, with theory lessons taken on a Friday morning.
COURSE DURATION - 10 Days Mon - Thurs 8.30am - 4.30pm Fri - 9.00am - 12.30pm 8 Day Sat - Sun 8.30am - aprox 5.00pm (4 alternate weekends)
