If you want to progress into the aviation industry or you want to study a second year of a level 3 qualification before progressing to higher education, this course is for you. It will give you a detailed insight into the aviation industry and the skills you need to find a job. With great links to industry, the college can offer you guaranteed/mock interviews with a range of companies, as well as outstanding guest speaker visits and some interesting visits to airlines and airports.

Course programme
You will study the following units:
- Health and safety in the aviation industry,
- Security in the aviation industry,
- Flight operations,
- Handling air passengers,
- Aviation meteorology for ground staff,
- The principles of flight,
- Developing and improving the customer service process,
- Team leadership.
You will have the opportunity to go on a residential visit and also visit a number of airports throughout the year. Fees are charged for trips and visits. Financial support may be available from college depending on your personal circumstances - further information will be availabel at interview.
This qualification is awarded by City and Guilds and was developed in conjunction with employers to provide a modern and updated view of the aviation industry. When you complete it you can leave knowing that you have skills which potential employers are looking for.
The course will run until Easter to fitr in with the industry recruitment process and give you the best opportunity to sek permanent employment or summer season work.
Entry Requirements
- You must be 17+ at the start of the course.
- A minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above, including English language and maths grade D or above, or
- a level 2 qualification at overall merit grade, English at level 2 and maths at level 1, and
- a good reference.
