Brief Description of the Course:

This is an entry level course for adults and young people who are interested in a land-based job. It is suitable for students with moderate learning difficulties and / or disabilities. The award is offered at Entry Levels 2 and 3 and focuses on a variety of land-based vocational activities. It will provide students with the basic practical skills and knowledge needed to either gain employment or progress to further training. It will also help develop common, social and interpersonal skills and widen life experiences.

Entry Criteria:

Students need to be 16 or over and have an interest in a practical subject to qualify. No previous qualifications are required and the College provides support for those who have learning difficulties and disabilities.

Possible Careers / Jobs:

It may be possible to find work in one of the vocational areas studied.

Progression:

On completion of this course it may be possible for students to progress onto a Level 1 course or into work.

Special Requirements:

1 Specialist Clothing and Equipment: Wellington / work boots (preferably steel toe-capped), overalls, waterproofs.

2 Minimum Age: 16 years old.

Please note that due to the course consisting of land-based subjects; the majority of practical activities are carried outside with a good emphasis on working within the community (off campus activity).
