Who is this course for?

This course is designed for both men and women who are seeking to enter into a career in hairdressing and will include English and Maths

What qualifications or experience do I need ?

Applicants must have some GCSE's at Grade E or E3 assessment in Literacy or ESOL. Any industrial experience that applicants may have will work as an advantage. You must pass the written and practical tests set at interview

What will I study ?

This course will cover the following topics: * Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to Health & Safety * Assist with salon reception duties * Contribute to the development of effective working relationships * Shampoo and condition hair * Prepare for hair services and maintain work areas * Prepare and maintain salon treatment work area * Assist with hair colouring services * Plait and twist hair using basic techniques * Assist with facial skin care and treatments * Blow dry hair * Assist with nail services * Students are also expected to gain work experience in a salon while on the course

How will I be assessed ?

This programme is assessed by a range of methods including projects, practical observations, oral questions and external written tests.

What qualifications could I achieve ?

On successful completion of this course, you will achieve an NVQ Level 1 in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy.

How do I join the course ?

Applicants will need to complete and return an application form, then attend an interview.

Will I need an interview ?

Yes. You will also be required to supply a satisfactory academic reference and you may be asked to do a written and practical test.
