Brief Description of the Course:

This Creative Skills Certificate is designed as a valid and reliable introduction to the production of floral items. The course includes a basic core module which is designed to give you an understanding of colour and the ability to make simple visual notes using a variety of drawing techniques and materials. Specialist modules enable you to apply these skills in the context of floral design, and to develop knowledge and skills required to make a variety of floral designs. This is an ideal course for a trainee or someone looking for a basic knowledge in floristry.

Entry Criteria:

This course covers practical skills and relevant background knowledge. Students are normally aged 16 or over and have a genuine interest in floristry on a commercial basis.

¨ Design – Principles & Elements.

¨ Sampling – Exploring Potential of Ideas and Materials.

¨ Floral Design – Wired Items.

¨ Floral Design – Hand Tied Bouquets.

Assessments:

Assessments will include assignments and practical work. There are no formal examinations on the Level 2 Certificate.

Progression:

On successful completion of the Level 2 Certificate there is an option to progress to the Level 3 Certificate in Creative Techniques.

2 Extra Costs:

Study Tours – There will be an optional opportunity to book on a range of trips and tours. These may include trips to Holland to visit auctions and growers, Bruges to visit an international flower show, New Covent Garden in London and various day trips to enhance the learner experience.
