About this course
Learners undertaking this unit should understand how to behave professionally and how to work safely in a salon. It is recommended that learners have a skin care qualification at Level 2

About the course:
The skills developed by the learner include: communication skills, organisation skills, the ability to work unsupervised, how to adapt techniques according to the situation, the ability to complete a full electrotherapy facial, how to promote services and advise on aftercare products. It includes the following knowledge.
- the range of equipment and resources required
- contra-indications which prevent or restrict electrical epilation treatments
- methods of electrical epilation
- selecting needle type
- the risks of using inappropriate needle size and incorrect needle insertion
- how to adjust equipment to aid effectiveness of treatment
- how to stretch skin tissues
- the importance of removing hair from the follicles without traction
- the contra-actions that may result from an electrical epilation treatment
- the aftercare advice that should be provided
- the effects on skin tissues and hair types of the different types of electrical current
- the effects of alternative forms of hair removal on skin and hair
- the structure and main function of the skin, hair and follicle
- the main diseases and disorders of the skin
- the effects of electrical epilation on body systems
- differences between the stages of the hair growth cycle
- the main causes of hair growth
- disorders of the endocrine system affect the condition of the hair and skin
Assessment
This unit will be assessed by an assignment covering practical skills and underpinning knowledge
You will need to provide pens / pencils and paper.
Smoking is not permitted on the premises or before attending classes or carrying out treatments.

For City & Guilds courses you are required to attend an informal interview to ensure selection of the most appropriate course. You can arrange an interview by contacting us either by telephone or e-mail, alternatively return the booking form, you will be contacted to arrange a suitable time. To secure the place, a deposit is required. Once the interview has taken place the booking fee is non-refundable. Payment may be spread over the duration of the course by setting up a standing. There is a £25.00 administration charge made for this facility.
Training must be paid for in full once training has commenced even if the course is not completed.
