Program Educational Objectives
The graduates of the Civil and Environmental Engineering undergraduate program are expected to achieve one or more of the following objectives within a few years of their graduation:
- Technical Knowledge: Demonstrate the technical ability to solve a wide variety of civil engineering problems considering public health and safety, and global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
- Communication and Team skills: Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and function as a member of a team

The George Washington University Civil Engineering student outcomes require that our graduates will demonstrate:
- An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
- An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
- An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
- An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
