The University of Glasgow’s School of Engineering has been delivering engineering education and research for more than 150 years and is the oldest School of Engineering in the UK. You will select courses from key sub-disciplines of Civil Engineering, notably structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, computational mechanics and transportation engineering. With all lecture courses selected from sets of options, you can choose to develop a degree of specialization in a given sub-discipline or to remain broad-based, thus tailoring the programme to suit your interests and career aspirations. Two major design project courses will develop your abilities to apply your knowledge of Civil Engineering to design of engineering projects. One of these projects is specifically civil engineering in content, but the other is multi-disciplinary in nature and will also involve MSc students from other engineering disciplines, working in teams to tackle a broad-based design problem. You will also undertake an individual project, allowing you to investigate a specific topic in considerable depth. You will be taught by staff who are leading researchers in their fields, so that course content can reflect state-of-the-art understanding, relevant to future challenges for civil engineering industry and the profession. The programme is designed to provide the advanced education required of civil engineers of tomorrow.
