The core curriculum includes all main subject areas, concentrating on analysis and materials behaviour, with a focus on design and management in the specialisation years. The international dimension aims to encourage awareness of the global engineering industry and allows students to foster links abroad. In Year 5 students complete a professional design project and a dissertation. All Civil Engineering programmes are supported by the Civil Engineering Industry Advisory Committee, which includes representatives from major multi-national employers offering advice, guidance and work placement opportunities.AccreditationAccredited by the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer. Course programme
Students study courses that are common across the discipline including: Mechanics; Mathematics; and Civil Engineering Applications. Students also participate in a varied programme of site visits to help emphasise the real world application of their learning.

Year 2
Expands on the basics of Level 1, with subjects such as: Hydraulics and Hydrology; Civil Engineering Materials; Analysis of Determinate Structures; and Surveying and Monitoring in the Built and Natural Environment.
Students also have the opportunity to participate in the Constructionarium programme, where they get hands-on construction experience of the civil engineering industry.
