CIW E-Commerce Specialist Course The CIW E-Commerce Specialist Course is aimed at those who already understand the foundations of web technologies and want to become proficient in e-commerce practices and site design. The course prepares you to take the CIW 1D0-525 exam and is one half of the CIW Web Design Professional certification which is made up of this course and the CIW Web Design Specialist course. This qualification is ideal for web designers, Internet consultants, IT professionals, marketing professionals, web and graphic artists and business professionals. The course has been designed as a self-study course and you can take as long as you need to complete it. Tutor support is available via email should you need assistance. The CIW E-Commerce Specialist is listed on the QCF at Level 4 with 20 Credits (QCF Qualification No. M_502_8993). APPLE MAC USERS: We recommend you complete this course on a PC with the Windows Operating System. While the course can be run on an Apple Macs using software such as Boot Camp, Parallels Desktop 7, VMware fusion or CrossOver Mac, we cannot support any issues that may occur with PC-Based software running on a Mac. Syllabus

This E-Commerce course provides you with a working knowledge of e-commerce standards. It covers the how-tos of conducting business online and of managing the technical issues associated with constructing an e-commerce web site. It also covers the similarities and differences between traditional and electronic commerce, and discusses varying levels of e-commerce technologies.

  • E-commerce site development, including ways to conduct business online and manage the technical issues associated with constructing an e-commerce Web site.
  • E-commerce technology and security, including e-commerce technologies at various levels of sophistication, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, and practices for securing your online transactions as well as your customers’ personal information.
  • E-commerce business, marketing and legal issues, including Web marketing strategies, online product promotion, and legal topics such as taxation and international shipping.

Assessment:

Once you've completed this course you can apply for the internationally recognised CIW E-Commerce Specialist 1D0-525 Examination, which is currently £90.00 + VAT. Exams must be sat at a registered Prometric or Pearson VUE testing centre. The exam consists of 85 multiple choice/multiple answer questions over 90 minutes and the passing score is 63%. You can locate testing centres and schedule examinations on the Prometric and Pearson VUE Websites.

Study Hours

This is only an approximate figure and is dependant upon how much time you can dedicate to your studies and how well you grasp the learning concepts in the course material. Furthermore, at the end of each lesson there is a question paper that needs to be completed and returned to your tutor. You should allow at least 1 - 2 hours of study to complete each question paper.
