History

The early daysThe roots of the company go back to 1981 when Steve Evans (now Managing Director) established Evans Electrical. Steve soon decided to specialise in wiring new homes and in the mid 1980s he started to employ apprentices. One of these was Steve Clarkson who joined in 1985.ExpansionThe business grew steadily throughout the late 1980s and early to mid 1990s, despite a housing market that was in recession. The two Steves established a partnership called Clarkson Evans in the early 90s and in 1992 moved to our first proper commercial premises. From then on, things really took off and two further moves eventually found us in our present home at the Meteor Business Park.Training Centre OpensBy 1998 the business employed around 35 people and there was an increasing flow of orders. The main barrier to further expansion was a lack of suitably qualified electricians available for employment so we took the ground-breaking step of setting up our own in-house training centre.
