Classical Civilisation A Level Course This course provides information on some of the fascinating features of classical civilisation and how they have contributed to the world we live in today. Through the study of classical sources, you will learn about the society and values of the classical societies of ancient Greece and Rome.  This course has been designed to: offer a wide choice of topics in the areas of archaeology, architecture, art, history and politics, literature and philosophy complement many other popular A levels, including Art, Drama and Theatre Studies, English Literature, Government and Politics, History, History of Art, and Philosophy This A Level Classical Civilisation home study course encourages you to: develop the critical and evaluative skills which will enable you to go on to Higher Education to study a wide range of courses draw on your experiences at GCSE as well as offering a meaningful foundation for the study of classical culture beyond A-level play to your strengths and deepen your enjoyment by offering a great deal of choice within its parameters The A-level in Classical Civilisation is an ideal complement to many other A-Levels and it can provide a useful basis for those wishing to study related subjects (such as Classics, Ancient History or Archaeology) at university level. Alternatively, it is also an engaging and deeply absorbing subject worthy of study in its own right, and interested students will find studying Classical Civilisation to be both intellectually stimulating and rewarding.

Exams are taken at an OCR centre.

Study Hours

This is only an approximate figure and is dependant upon how much time you can dedicate to your studies and how well you grasp the learning concepts in the course material. Furthermore, at the end of each lesson there is a question paper that needs to be completed and returned to your tutor. You should allow at least 1 - 2 hours of study to complete each question paper.
