About the course

The MSc Clinical Dermatology has been developed to prepare clinicians for their role as health care professionals working with people with skin conditions. It provides inter-professional working opportunities for the study of key aspects of dermatology practice. There are a range of specialist modules covering key areas of dermatology practice including, management of skin lesions and skin cancers, and chronic skin conditions to enable clinicians to develop knowledge and skills relating to common dermatological conditions. These modules can be studied as stand alone modules or as part of the Masters programme.

About this course




Entry requirements

The normal entry requirements for the programme are:


A degree in a healthcare discipline (or equivalent) & have a recognised professional qualification.


and


The equivalent of 2 years Full Time post qualifying experience (excluding internship) and additionally 1 year Full Time in a substantive speciality post in dermatology


and


Current clinical experience of a minimum of 1 year full time or equivalent in a clinical setting with access to patients with chronic skin conditions or skin integrity related conditions



References will be required to confirm specialist experience.


Additionally:


All students from non-majority English speaking countries require proof of English language proficiency. A minimum IELTS 6.5 is required with no less than 6.0 in each band or GCSE in English with minimum grade C.



All students who wish to undertake an observational placement for Clinical Practice in Action (7LMS0156) as part of their programme will need a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, or provide a statement of good standing



All visa applicants are required to submit biometrics and declare any criminal convictions in their Visa Application Form (VAF) which is routinely checked against Home Office and Police National Computer (PNC) databases on admission to the programme. 


This programme is subject to the University's Principles, Policies, Regulations and Procedures for the Admission of Students to Undergraduate and Taught Postgraduate Programmes and will take account of University policy and guidelines for assessing accredited prior certificated learning (APCL) and accredited prior experiential learning (APEL).




The MSc Clinical Dermatology is designed specifically for health professionals with at least two years of general clinical experience who have a special interest in managing people with skin conditions.
