About this course
This apprenticeship is suitable for those who are currently working within this sector or are looking to gain employment within this sector as a Clinical Healthcare Support Worker or Healthcare Assistant. They will work in clinical services e.g. medical, surgical, critical care, outpatients, community and A&E, where they will look after the wellbeing and comfort of patients. They may have a supervisory role, Emergency Care Assistant. These roles provide vital assistance to paramedics responding to emergency calls, looking after their wellbeing whilst maintaining the medical and life saving emergency equipment in the ambulance.
This is dependent on your employer and on the level of the apprenticeship you apply for.
You will normally need at least grade C or above in your English and maths GCSEs. If you don't have these, don't worry. You can work towards your functional skills in English and maths alongside your apprenticeship training at St Helens College.

Course programme

- Level 2 Award in Employment and Personal Learning Skills in Health
