Effective leadership practice requires you to develop an ability to interpret and influence policy and work in partnership with others in order to lead and develop services.

This course provides you with the opportunity to develop the knowledge of leadership and management theories and strategies, which are required to ethically manage people and resources.You will explore how services are developed and commissioned and evaluate the role of the leader, lobbying and influencing change in the care arena.

This course will assist you in gaining the knowledge and skills required to effectively target resources and lead and manage health care practice.

Course programme

Teaching and assessment

The taught component of the course will be delivered by your employing organisation on behalf of the RCN. Assessment and support will be provided by the academic staff at the University of Huddersfield.

You will not be required to attend the University; assessment support will be facilitated through online resources via the virtual learning environment. You will be able to access the module leader for tutorial support.

Entry requirements for this course are normally:

  • Be a registered health professional with an appropriate governing body
  • Be a student on the RCN’s Clinical Leadership Programme
  • Provide evidence of your ability to study at honours level
