On completion of this course you should be able to:
Critically explore the key elements of clinical supervision and reflective practice, identifying limitations and barriers.
Critically analyse current approaches to clinical supervision, incorporating individual, organisational and professional perspectives.
Critically evaluate the impact of clinical supervision in an area of practice and utilise this to make recommendations for the future.
This module is for registered health care professionals with an interest in clinical supervision.

Course programme
This module covers how clinical supervision in contemporary health care practice has developed; the aims and benefits; the most frequently used theoretical models; reflective practice and learning; barriers to implementation; and evaluation of the impact on practice.
These and other issues are discussed in the context of professional and specialist practice eg. patient safety and clinical/corporate governance.
The sessions include a range of individual and group activities with the emphasis on sharing learning and development throughout. There is also a skills based workshop where you can practice reflection and your skills as a supervisor in a supportive environment with peer and tutor feedback.
